February madness..

February has been a mad kinda month, with lots of stressful deadlines and a whole new semester of classes! But thankfully I can always find time for fun...

Such as a day trip to Bath with 3 of my lovely friends from Church!

We spend sooo much time in the studios, that now and again, we go a bit mad ;) Here is an example of how my cyprian friends react to MA stress!

Thankfully there is always time for brownie baking!! After a stressful day at the office/studios/music department there is no better way to end the day than baking brownies :D

Oh yeah!!! They were so good, I had to have two!!

Us MA students do enjoy some fine dining!! Here we are with our tutors at some exotic restaurant! Good times!

A long overdue visit to....The London Temple!!

ATLAST! After nearly 6 months of waiting, I made it to the London Temple! A wonderful family from Church gave me a lift and I got to do baptisms for the dead in exchange for looking after their two gorgeous children while they attended a session. What a great day!!

Oh for those who don't know what this is all about, check out wikipeida http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temple_(Latter_Day_Saints)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baptism_for_the_dead <- and this is the link to explain what I was doing!

Anyway it was a wonderful day and I can't wait to go back!

Masters in Music For Film and Television ... jan 2010

Janurary 2010 has been a stressful start to the year... 18 pages of hand written orchestration of Debussy's La Cathedrale Engloutie, followed by endless studio work and then to top it of we composed and recorded one of our compositions with a live orchestra!! stress!!! Anyway here are some rather blurry photos of big event;

We were given a 3 minute video clip to write the music for. The screen in the background is playing the film so that we could cue our music to it.

Just look at this one with your eyes half closed...

Me, conducting with a pencil, how professional!

What would the big event be without at least one poesy picture! ;)

DAY ONE
On day one we visited three amazing places. The ancient city of Jarash, Saladins Castle/Ajloun, and another ancient city ruins of Umm Qais.
Some interesting facts:

- Saladin defeated the crusaders back in 1184

- The location of this Castle is apparently near the location
of the feedingof the 5000 and the biblical land of Moab.

- Umm Qais is located on the border of Jordan and Israel.
Beyond the Golan Heights is the sea of Galilee which was
the most incredible view I have ever seen!

DAY TWO

The Biblical site- Mount Nebo, where Moses first viewed the Promised land, but he passed no further than this mountain.

DAY THREE
We visited Bethany beyond the Jordan where Jesus Christ was Baptised. It was amazing to see the recently discovered Baptism site were it is believed John the Baptist resided. In the same area we also seen Elijah's Hill/ Tell Mar Elias, where Elijah ascended to Heaven in a chariot driven by horses of fire.

The river Jordan, on the other side of the river is Israel

DAY FOUR
We made our way to Petra, but first stopped off at the Dead Sea for a bit of relaxing! It was amazing, just floating around relaxing in the heat of the day! Amazing!

DAY FIVE
On our road trip towards Petra, we stopped to visit the gigantic Kerak Castle, a historic crusader castle. We then got to visit Petra that evening by candle light!! It was amazing! To get to Petra's iconic treasury you have to walk through the incredible valley. It was the most amazing experience!! We then all lay down outside the Treasury by candle light and listened to traditional music and ancient stories of Petra.

DAY SIX

Wadi Rum desert was so beautiful! We stayed in tents that night but unfortunately there was a very noisy wedding party going on in camp sights bar area. My Dad slept through it, but the rest of us all had to pick up our beds and drag them down to the bottom of the camp site to get away from the noice. So that night the 4 of us slept beneath the stars! I must have counted atleast 20 shooting stars before I fell alseep!! So many wishes :D
